چکیده
The surgical correction of the transposition of the great arteries (TGA) is divided into three procedures by the methods of switching i.e., (1) intra-atrial, (2) intra-ventricular, and (3) via the great arteries. Arterial correction is considered as an ideal technique physiologically as well as anatomically. With the above in mind, twenty formalin-preserved hearts of TGA were used to carry out the following studies: (1) feasibility of coronary artery relocation, (2) feasibility of switching of the aorta and pulmonary trunk, (3) feasibility of the conduit procedure, and (4) effect of left ventricular hypoplasia. The Jatene operation in which coronary artery relocation was needed proved feasible in 20% of the cases. The Damus-Kaye-Stansel operation seemed feasible in 45% of the cases. Hypoplasia of the left ventricle was suspected in 3 of the cases that belonged to Group 1 according to Kidd's classification.

A 33-day-old Infant with the Transposition of the Great Arteries; A Rare Case Report
Dextro-transposition of the great arteries (d-TGA) is the one most common cyanotic congenital heart disease in neonates. The discordant ventriculoarterial arrangement results in parallel circulation, it so is vital to understand the management. We report a rare interesting but critical case of 33-day-old boy who developed cyanosis and had transposition of great arteries combined with interrupte...

Background: Nowadays, the treatment of choice for anatomical correction of transposition of great arteries is arterial switch but some children are not good candidates for this operation. In these cases atrial switch or Senning procedure is an accepted method, thus outcome of this procedure needs to be better delineated. Methods: This prospective study included 65 patients that underwent Senni...
متن کاملCurrent technique of the arterial switch procedure for transposition of the great arteries.
The arterial switch operation has recently become the preferred method of repair for patients with transposition of the great arteries in the majority of congenital heart centers. Concern regarding the late results in those patients undergoing atrial repairs has stimulated this major change in operative treatment. Although initially high, the current operative mortality has been reduced substan...
متن کاملBalloon atrial septostomy in complete transposition of great arteries in infancy.
The results of 26 completed balloon atrial septostomies in complete arterial transposition in infancy are described, and complications discussed. Of 7 deaths following this procedure, 3 were clearly or probably related to it or to its failure to produce an adequate septal defect, while 4 were unrelated. Atrial perforations occurred on 4 occasions. Necropsy information regarding the defects prod...
متن کاملThe Coronary Circulation in Complete Transposition of the Great Vessels.
While the anatomy of the coronary arteries in complete transposition of the great vessels has been studied by several authors, the overall problem of adequacy of the coronary blood supply in this condition has received less attention. Spitzer (1923) described the probable embryological basis for partial or complete transposition of the coronary arteries. Astley and Parsons (1952) thought that m...
